Jürgen Heyde, Diasporisches Wissen? Konstruktionen von Raum und Identität bei den Armeniern in Polen-Litauen im 16./17. Jahrhundert, 18.1.2024, Uhr 16:45-18:15, Kolingasse 14-16, SR 16
The lecture presents Armenian sources that emerged around the Armenian communities of Lviv and Kamjanec. Legal texts, chronicles and a travelogue will be used to work out how Armenian people in Poland-Lithuania constructed their reference spaces and what offers of identification they associated with them. By reading the texts as self-narratives, the authors and their audience can be experienced as active shapers of their social environment. A priori attributions such as "diaspora", which classify the examined textual testimonies into an interpretation scheme in advance, are questioned and creative horizons beyond ethnocultural categorizations are made visible.
